Killington, Vermont

When someone is lost or hurt in the mountains, volunteers answer.

The KSAR Foundation funds the gear and training that keep the all-volunteer Killington Search & Rescue team ready, so they don't have to pay for it themselves.

Why we exist

Rescue gear and training are expensive

Killington Search & Rescue is an all-volunteer team that operates under the Killington Police Department. The town funds the basics, but the gear and advanced training a backcountry rescue team needs cost more than a municipal budget can cover.

Too often, that gap has been filled by volunteers buying their own equipment. The foundation exists so the community can close that gap instead, and lighten the load on local taxpayers too.
